ePSI Trailblazer award for Trafiklab
March 14, 2012
Trafiklab has been named ePSI Trailblazer at the ePSI Platform Conference 2012 in Rotterdam. Trafiklab was chosen as the winner in the “Transport Data” category for having succeeded both in promoting the use of open transport data and in building a community of both data providers and third-party developers.
38 examples of projects and initiatives within the EU that have done something new and exciting with open data were nominated as finalists at the sold-out conference (350 participants).
Everyone involved is of course both happy and proud that trafiklab.se has now also been recognised at EU level.
About the ePSI Trailblazers
The ePSI Trailblazers are an initiative of the ePSI platform, the European platform for public sector information (PSI) and its re-use. Instead of handing out another award, the ePSI platform looked for PSI re-use innovators who had done something new and exciting with open data in the past year, offering them recognition from their peers and help in improving their work. Nominees were assessed on:
- usefulness to citizens, visitors and the public sector
- potential to be useful for other governmental bodies, including in other EU member states
- appeal from a usability perspective
- the inventive and original nature of the application
The trailblazers presented their work at the conference on 16 March 2012, and could describe what they needed to take their initiative further, such as funding, contacts with other governments or legal assistance.
Four initiatives were named ePSI Trailblazer 2012 ( announcement, in Dutch, presentation):
- Trafiklab (Sweden) – transport data
- Open Cultuur Data (the Netherlands) – cultural data
- Sejmometr (Poland) – parliamentary data
- Znasichdani (Slovakia) – company data
