Trafiklab has been named Mälardarling of the Year (Årets Mälardarling) by the Mälardalen Council (Mälardalsrådet). The prize was awarded during the Mälardalen Council’s reception in Almedalen, and we are of course incredibly happy that the work with open data and APIs is being recognised in this context.

By releasing traffic data and making it available to independent developers, this year’s Mälardarling has paved the way for hundreds of new innovative services. The Mälardarling of the Year 2016 award goes to Trafiklab with the following citation:

Trafiklab’s platform enables the creation of the infrastructure of the future with innovative, smart mobility solutions that contribute to achieving societal goals. By making data available and driving development in the use of traffic information for better travel services, their work benefits citizens throughout the entire Stockholm-Mälaren region.

The prize was presented during the Mälardalen Council’s reception on Wednesday 6 July in Almedalen by the Council’s chairman Torbjörn Rosdahl, together with the other members of the jury: Maria Nimvik-Stern (Secretary General, Mälardalsrådet), Anna Kramers (researcher, Head of the Division of Environmental Strategies Research, KTH) and Maria Nilsson (Vice Chair, Unionen Stockholm). Present to receive the prize: Elias Arnestrand (Trafiklab), Lars Löfqvist (Samtrafiken) and Robert Fromell (Trafikförvaltningen SLL).
